Circuits:LM1800 Stereo Demodulator

@MatteP wrote:

LM1800 is an integrated FM stereo demodulator IC which has a number of good features integrated on it which makes it possible to design a high quality FM stereo demodulator system with excellent sound quality. The LM 1800 uses phase locked loop technology to regenerate the 38kHz sub carrier from the composite signal. The features of LM 1800 are automatic stereo/mono switching, wide power supply voltage range, good channel separation, excellent power supply rejection, no coils required, tuning can be done using a POT etc.

Description:
A very simple and high quality FM stereo demodulator circuit using LM1800 is shown here. Composite input signal is applied to pin1 of the IC through POT R5 and capacitor C5. C5 is a DC decoupling capacitor. R5 can be used to adjust the input signal level. The output of the internal audio amplifier circuit (Pin2) is coupled to the phase detector input through capacitor C6. Capacitors C8, C7 and resistor R6 forms a filter network. Pin 15 is the control terminal of the 70kHz internal voltage controlled oscillator. The required tuning voltage is given to this pin using Resistor R4 & POT R10. Tuning can be performed by adjusting the POT R10. LED D1 is an indicator LED and R1 is its current limiting resistor. C1 is the threshold filter capacitor. Pin 11 is the pilot monitor output pin. Supply voltage ie, 12V DC is applied to pin 16 of the IC. C4 is a noise bypass capacitor for the internal audio amplifier’s output. Right and left audio outputs are available at pins 5&4 of the LM1800.
Next stage of the circuit is a 2 channel driver storage based on NE5532 IC. NE5532 is a dual, internally compensated, low noise op-amp suitable for audio applications. First op-amp inside the NE5532 is used for amplifying the left channel and the second op-amp inside the NE5532 is used for amplifying the right channel. Both of them are wired in the inverting mode with a gain of around 4. R14 & R15 are load resistors. C2 & C3 are DC decoupling capacitors. The left & right load/de-emphasis pins (pins 3 &6) are grounded using 3.9K resistors (resistors R3 & R2). C11 & C12 are feedback capacitors. C13 & C14 are output DC decoupling capacitors.

Circuit Diagram

Notes.
Assemble the circuit in a good quality PCB.
Use 12VDC for powering LM1800N
Use +15V / -15V DC for powering NE5532.
POT R5 can be used to adjust the input signal level.
POT R10 can be used for tuning.
The power supplies must be well regulated and ripple free.
Use IC bases for mounting LM1800N & NE5532.
Input must be applied with respect to the ground.

I placed a 7805 into my project, and the pin numbers are wrong. Can someone fix this mistake? It seems to have been first reported in January, and in the intervening ten months, nothing has been done.

I have heard "friends don't let friends use fritzing", and I begin to understand why.

Hi!

It is possible to change de distance between the strips in PCM view.
In normal mode, it is 2.44mm and i would use a 1.22 mm.

If yes, how ?

Thanks!

I want to remove the all references in the .fzp file to the old part it was created from, ie the "sparkfun-connectors-50-pin-centronics-m-male,fzp", so the part is indistinguishable from a new part.

Do I need the line, or can I change it to something referencing the part it's self, or do I have to edit the file and create a new file, and will it work for others that don't have the file when they import the part.

Optocoupler SMD parts (and changing existing parts)

Hi,
I'm trying to add the PC817 as SMD variant. I have succesfully created the SMD alternative and Fritzing recognizes it partially (it won't give overlapping errors for the holes). However the holes are still present and exported to the production sketch.
I have set all holes to be pads, but cannot for the love of me get them to change.
I'm a newb, so there might be something I'm not doing correctly.

Regards,
Kajos

It would be great if Fritzing was able to use inputs from a Mac trackpad. I realize that panning with the trackpad works in Fritzing, but it would also be nice if the pinch zoom features worked as well.

I am trying to create an INA125 DIP 8pic IC. For the life of me I cannot figure out how to rename to IC in the part editor. After I have made my label changes in the Metadata and under 'File' I have 'Saved as new part'. In my Parts bin I can see my newly created part which is labeled correctly. When I then import my new IC from 'My parts' bin the IC is still labeled 'IC', not my number. How do I relabel my newly created IC?????

German PCB Fab with native Fritzing import support

@Libermentix wrote:

Hi there,

we've been around for a while producing affordable circuit boards with industry quality made in Germany and saw a lot of Fritzing-Gerber projects being ordered through our service at https://go.aisler.net. As this was very cumbersome and provoked mistakes, we've added native Fritzing import support as of last week. For whoever doesn't know us: Our circuit boards come in affordable sets of three, have ENIG finish, are fully e-tested and are produced in a high-quality fab in Germany that usually does automotive and medical industry series production.

We would be happy if you test our new import function for Fritzing projects and give me direct feedback whether the import has successfully worked to your expectations. Of course you can also order your project directly and test the quality yourself.

Thanks a ton for helping us improve the service. I'm looking forward to hearing your feedback!

Cheers
Felix

Searching parts, Velleman RX 433Mhz and SMA Connector

Hi,

I'm wondering if the following parts exist:

http://www.reichelt.de/Bausaetze/RX-433-MHZ/3/index.html?ACTION=3&LA=446&ARTICLE=153830&GROUPID=7836&artnr=RX+433+MHZ&SEARCH=rx%2B433

The provided SMA Connector doesn't fit and the Sparkfun RX Module looks pretty similiar, but is a little shorter so the pins wont' fit. Did I just miss something or don't they exist?

Thanks in advance.

Arduino Mega 2560 (Rev3) std with silkscreen

@Old_Grey wrote:

ATTN UPDATE - Snap to grid error. Half USB and PS plug silk missing -

The std under mounted Arduino Mega 2560 (Rev3) with component silkscreen and text added to PCB view.

The USB, and maybe the power connector, will hit any PCB component pin that is mounted directly above it, so I added the Arduino Mega 2560 component positions so you know were to place them. Even if you file the protruding pins flat they will still hit the USB, so it's either avoid those positions or space the headers higher to give the Mega more gap to the PCB.

UPDATE 10 Dec 16
V1.1 - Arduino Mega 2560 (Rev3).fzpz (89.4 KB)

As per my other ones, the holes don't get drilled. You have to manually put holes on the circles were you want them, this is to allow a choice if you are running out of room and have to run track through a hole.

REASON FOR UPDATE
For some reason when I put my new silkscreen Mega on the old std Mega from the Arduino bin, it wouldn't snap exactly on the old part. With a 0.025" grid it would snap 0.015" left or 0.010" right.
Also when you zoomed in half the USB and PS plug would disappear.

Hello,

I'm writing to let you know about 'ARMA IoT: Breakout Board for ARDUINO'. It is an IoT shield for Arduino. The board is compatible with Blynk, thingspeak libraries and it is very cool for making IoT projects in no time. It comes with a built-in both WIFI module (ESP12) and an expandable storage through micro-SD. An exciting Christmas gift for all developers.

Take a moment to check it out on Indiegogo and also share it with your friends. All the tools are there. Get perks, make a contribution, or simply follow updates. If enough of us get behind it, we can make 'ARMA IoT: Breakout Board for ARDUINO' happen!
